Lindenhurst Man Charged After Alleged Bat Assault at Seaford Softball Game

A Lindenhurst man was arrested after allegedly striking another man in the head with a metal bat during a dispute at a recreational softball game in Seaford on May 31, Nassau County police said.

According to detectives, officers responded to Cedar Creek Park on Merrick Road at about 2 p.m. after receiving a 911 call. Police said an argument between two softball teams escalated, and Brian Polanco, 32, allegedly struck a 34-year-old man with a metal bat.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment. His condition was not immediately available. Polanco was charged with second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was scheduled to be arraigned June 1 at First District Court in Hempstead.
