General Douglas MacArthur High School and the Levittown School District has announced the top students of the Class of 2026. Senior Meaghan Campbell has been named valedictorian, and Sara Duda is this year’s salutatorian.

Meaghan, who sports a GPA of 105.2, has seen a high level of success in athletics as a three-sport player. Meaghan is a star basketball player and was named a Scholar Athlete, a Newsday top player, earned All-County and All-Conference honors and scored her 1,000th point this year. As a player on the varsity volleyball team, Meaghan helped lead them to success as conference championship winners. She has also earned All-Conference honors in flag football and assists her peers as a buddy for the Challengers basketball team.

Outside of the school, Meaghan teaches basketball and volunteers at various programs for St. Bernard’s Church. In the Science Research program at MacArthur, Meaghan has conducted projects that observe human behavior and social conformity and presented her work in the Long Island Science Congress, Northwell Medical Marvels and the IACS Women in STEM competitions. In the National, Math and World Language honor societies, Meaghan tutors peers. She will attend Vassar College to study neuroscience and behavior and to continue her basketball career.

Sara, who attained a GPA of 104.8, is medal-winning member of the Science Olympiad team and competes with the mathletes team. In Science Research, Sara has studied both social sciences and plant life, notably by simulating lunar conditions to see if coffee grounds or coconut husks can help a plant grow. She was an early entrant into the AP Physics program during her sophomore year and the AP Calculus program in her junior year.

Sara is also passionate about community service. At Camp Anchor, a Town of Hempstead program, Sara volunteers to assist campers in daily activities and actively volunteers as an assistant teacher at the Polish Supplementary School of Long Island. She will attend SUNY Farmingdale to study nursing, aligning with her passion of helping others. She hopes to eventually obtain a doctoral degree and become a CRNA.
