An East Meadow man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing another man during an argument outside a Levittown comedy club, according to Nassau County police.
Police said officers responded to an aided case at Governors Comedy Club on Division Avenue at about 6:36 p.m. on June 18. Detectives determined that Francis Jimenea, 54, of East Meadow, became involved in an argument with a 58-year-old man inside the establishment.
According to investigators, the dispute escalated and moved to a rear alley, where Jimenea allegedly stabbed the victim in the back with a knife.
The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, police said.
Jimenea was taken into custody without incident. Police said he was also transported to an area hospital for treatment of a laceration.
He has been charged with second-degree attempted murder and was scheduled to be arraigned June 19 in First District Court in Hempstead.
The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
