The Levittown School District announced that six students from Division Avenue and General Douglas MacArthur high schools were named Commended Students in the prestigious 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Commended Students from Division Avenue High School include seniors Laurent Chen, Surya Das, Daphne Demirtas, Athena Kong and Callum Sheridan, while General Douglas MacArthur High School’s Commended Student is Sean Doyle. They are among 34,000 students selected for the honor across more than one million applicants nationwide.
Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2027 competition by taking the 2025 Preliminary SAT or National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Each student received a letter of commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, and their achievement will be displayed in their resumés and college applications.
