Peaceful Yoga supports a cause during the holiday season

During the Lighting of Malverne, Peaceful Yoga held a holiday event to support a good cause.

With the second annual “Shop for a Cause” holiday market, Marianne Bochilo, owner of Peaceful Yoga raised money for Natalie’s Wings. Natalie’s Wings is a local charity that donates toys and holiday presents to sick children in nearby hospitals.

The Rockville Centre-based charity is dedicated to Natalie Persico, a girl who died of unknown causes at age 6 about ten years ago. To honor her memory, toys are donated to Cohen’s Children’s Hospital, Sloan Kettering Children’s Hospital, the Ronald McDonald House, and more.

“Natalie was a young girl who lost her life too young,” Bochilo said. “I saw what her mom was doing and I just wanted to help kids like Natalie, who are in the hospital.”

All participating vendors donated 10 percent of their proceeds to Natalie’s Wings. Guests also brought gifts to donate.

Bochilo also presented gifts that were donated by local stores to attendees. “I’m supporting local stores and spreading good cheer,” she said.
