The Malverne Chamber of Commerce is taking the reins of the village’s annual Fall Festival and Car Show, expanding the longtime tradition with new attractions while putting its 85 member businesses in the spotlight.

Malverne will welcome families and visitors Saturday, Oct. 3, for the festival, which will combine classic cars, live entertainment, children’s activities, local food and opportunities to connect with Malverne businesses. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and will be free and open to the public.

“We want this to feel like a real Malverne hometown event,” chamber President Elizabeth Krull said. “Our goal is to create a true community celebration that showcases Malverne’s Chamber of Commerce businesses and brings families to the village.”

The event will feature the 33rd annual classic car show on Hempstead Avenue, where visitors can view a variety of classic vehicles while listening to music from a DJ. The car show remains a centerpiece of the annual festival, but organizers are expanding the day’s activities beyond the vehicles.

On Church Street, attendees can enjoy live music from the 10-piece band Vinyl Revival from 2 to 4 p.m., along with additional DJ entertainment throughout the day.

A kids’ fun zone will offer nine inflatables, including a Halloween-themed 46-foot obstacle course, a 27-foot rock wall and slide, a wrecking ball and a sweeper. The festival will also include activities designed specifically for toddlers, giving younger children a chance to take part in the day’s attractions.

New this year will be a touch-a-truck event featuring local municipal and emergency vehicles, including a fire truck, police car and dump truck. Children and families will have the opportunity to get an up-close look at the vehicles and learn more about the equipment used throughout the community.

Food and beverages will be available throughout the festival, with an emphasis on Malverne businesses and community organizations. Antonio’s Italian American Deli, Harvest House Tavern and the local Malverne Boy Scout troop are among those expected to participate.

“This is the first year that the Chamber is producing the festival on its own,” Krull said, “We’re keeping the focus local by featuring Chamber businesses rather than operating it as a traditional craft fair.”

The festival will also feature a community gathering area, providing another place for attendees to spend time during the event, and a 50-50 drawing will be held at 4:30 p.m.

This year’s festival marks the first time the Malverne Chamber of Commerce is organizing the event independently. The chamber plans to use the festival to showcase its 85 member businesses while continuing the community tradition surrounding the annual car show.

Chamber members will have tables around the gazebo, where they can promote their products and services, interact with residents and offer giveaways. Their participation will give festival visitors an opportunity to learn more about businesses and services in and around Malverne while taking part in the day’s activities.

The festival continues a longstanding Malverne tradition while expanding its focus beyond the classic car show. Organizers are aiming to create a full-day community gathering with activities for different ages and opportunities for residents and visitors to support local businesses.

With classic cars along Hempstead Avenue, music and entertainment on Church Street, children’s attractions, local food and community organizations taking part, the Fall Festival will give residents and visitors several ways to spend the day in Malverne while highlighting the businesses that the chamber represents.
