Schools in the Lynbrook school district will be closed on Wednesday, Feb. 10 due to the expected snowstorm. All after school clubs and meetings, including the monthly Board of Education meeting, are also cancelled.

Lynbrook High School students Erica and Matthew DeMichiel collected over 120 new children’s books at multiple sites in Lynbrook and East Rockaway on behalf of First Book-Long Island, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing new books to children from low-income households in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. The group’s mission is to instill a love of reading in youngsters who would not otherwise have access to books in their homes.

Micaela Kessler represented Marion Street 5th grade at the All County music festival at the C.W. Post Tilles Center recently. The best musicians from across Nassau County are chosen for this honor. Micaela played first flute.

In what has become a proud community tradition, the Lynbrook High School Tri-M Music Honor Society sponsored its annual Cabaret Night, which showcased the musical talents of dozens of high school students while raising approximately $2,000 for the food pantries at St. Raymond’s Church in East Rockaway and Our Lady of Peace Church of Lynbrook.
