Gogarty wins trustee seat in East Rockaway

Appointed trustee Richard Gogarty garnered 723 votes in Tuesday’s uncontested election in The Village of East Rockaway. He will fill the seat that he was appointed to in April of 2011 after Trustee Irene Villacci stepped down.

Gogarty has served the East Rockaway community for many years as the Chairman of the Board of Zoning Appeals. He moved to East Rockaway while serving in the United States Army in 1985.

Gogarty serves as the village liaison to the library, the auxiliary police and the Welcome Wagon Committee. He is married and the father of three, grandfather of two. He is a New York City schoolteacher.
