LWA graduates 37 students in class of 2014

Lawrence Woodmere Academy held its 90th Upper School commencement ceremony in its on campus Hessel Hall on June 9 with 37 students representing 11 communities and three countries, including Israel and China, graduating.
Dr. Michael “Mickey” Harris, a third generation LWA alum, who is the chief medical officer and chief of surgery and surgical services at Englewood Hospital in New Jersey, was the commencement speaker. Harris, who graduated from LWA IN 1980, taught Russian literature and coached tennis briefly at his alma mater before attending medical school.
The graduates will attend a variety of schools and programs such as Syracuse University and its schools of Education and Communication, St. John’s Physician Assistant Program, New York University’s Tisch School of Arts and City University of New York’s Macaulay Honors College.
