Saying goodbye to Hewlett’s class of 2012

At the June 21 Hewlett High School graduation ceremony at the C.W. Post Tilles Center, 280 graduates received their diplomas, marking an end to one chapter and the beginning of another.
This year, Helaina Regen-Tuero was the class of 2012 valedictorian and the salutatorian was David Kaufman.
Robyn Schall, a Hewlett High School alum and comedian, offers a word of advice for the class of 2012. “Learn who you are and what you can offer to the world,” she said. “Being in the entertainment business is very hard.  You must play into your strengths.  If you are funny, go into stand up comedy.  If you have perfect pitch, go into musical theater.  If you are great in math, be the accountant for a Broadway show.  In any field you go into, play into your strengths! Be confident! Confidence is probably the most important key in making it. If you’re not, fake it till you make it!  Lastly, if a casting director tells you to lose weight… go out and eat a cheeseburger.  You will never please everyone so just be you!”
