The W. C. Mepham High School Alumni Association hosted several events in honor of the school’s 75th anniversary last weekend. The celebrations kicked off on Saturday, Sept. 8, with the All-Class Pirates’ Picnic Reunion at Wantagh State Park. Alumni from different graduating classes were invited to bring their own food and catch up with old friends, organizers said. Nassau County Legislator Dave Denenberg also attended. more

Kennedy High School graduate Brett Cohen did not star in “The Amazing Spider-Man.” He is not on a television show on NBC, and he did not release a hit album. But Cohen was able to convince hundreds in the heart of New York City otherwise with the help of a camera crew, bodyguards and makeup. more
Karen Anzalone of Merrick said her daughter Danielle met figure skating coach Aimee Molle of Bellmore at the Newbridge Arena when she was 7 years old. Almost seven years later, Danielle is still skating at the rink with Molle five days a week in order to prepare for competitions – even in the summer. more
