The East Meadow Soccer Club is gearing up for the 32nd annual East Meadow Soccer Tournament, sponsored by the Westbury-based Covanta Energy. It one of the largest and oldest soccer competitions in the Northeast. The Calhoun girls’ varsity badminton team recently won the Nassau County Championship with a 4-3 victory over Great Neck South. The Calhoun girls finished the season with a 15-0 record –– and their second straight championship. Team Captain Christina Strezenec won the overall singles title, beating out all other Nassau badminton players in a two-day tournament. With this win, Strezenec became the only player in Calhoun history to win four county titles playing a varsity sport. more
