Beekeeper brings his friends to library

Posted

The Oceanside Public Library was buzzing on Sept. 8 at the monthly meeting of the Oceanside Garden Club.

For its September meeting, the Garden Club invited beekeeper Frank Hurley to come to the library and give a lecture on his bees. He spoke about the care, maintenance and social structure of his honeybees.

But more than just talk, he gave a live demonstration. With bees in tow (in a sealed glass case called an "observation hive"), he showed audience members how bees interact and build their hives, as well as all of the equipment that he uses as a bee keeper.
