Elmont School District employee tests positive for Covid

Some students in the Clara H. Carlson School must quarantine for 4 days, after coming in close contact with a staff member who has tested positive for Covid-19, Elmont Superintendent Ken Rosner wrote in a letter to parents on Sept. 19, after the Nassau County Health Department notified him about the case. Those students have also been contacted by the Department of Health, as was one other staff member who had also been in close contact with the individual.

The staff members who tested positive must also quarantine for 14 days, and will not be allowed back to school until he or she provides the district with a negative test result, Rosner wrote, under guidance from the New York State Department of Health and the Nassau County Health Department.

“We will continue to work closely with the commissioner of health and the Nassau County Health Department, and take all necessary precautions to ensure the health and safety of our school community,” he said, noting that the building — especially the rooms that the staff members occupied — will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, after which it would be safe for students to return to school on Monday.
