Atlantic Beach village Trustee Anthony Livreri resigned and was replaced by resident Charlie Hammerman effective immediately.
Mayor George Pappas informed the Nassau Herald of the appointment on Wednesday afternoon.
Hammerman will serve the remainder of Livreri’s term, which runs through July 2026. He was elected last year.
Hammerman, 62, serves as the president and CEO of Disability Opportunity Fund, a national certified community development financial institution, solely dedicated to advancing the needs of people with disabilities.
“As a second-generation resident of Atlantic Beach, I am truly humbled to be appointed to the Village Board," Hammerman wrote in a statement to the Herald on May 28. "In addition, as deputy mayor, I look forward to working with Mayor Pappas and the rest of the board to work on behalf of all Village residents. Atlantic Beach is a special place for its residents and all of the people who visit our beach community.”
Livreri had served on the board for less than a year. He was elected after a recounted vote, over incumbent Ed Sullivan, during the June 18, 2024, election.
An expanded story will appear in next week’s edition of the Herald.
