The Nassau County Police Department blared their car sirens as they paraded in front of Mount Sinai South Nassau hospital in Oceanside to thank their health-care workers on Wednesday morning.

County Executive Laura Curran and Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder both thanked front-line workers for their efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic. “Over the last several weeks, we’ve all been through this battle together,” Ryder said. “We will come back, and we will come back stronger than ever.”

Curran said that the grit, tenacity and professionalism shown by MSSN’s front-line workers makes her optimistic for the future. “This crisis did not create heroes, it revealed the heroes who are already among us,” Curran said. “You are those heroes.”
