The Oceanside High School Class of 2026 marked the culmination of years of hard work and achievement on June 26, as seniors crossed the stage during commencement exercises at Charles R. Mosback Memorial Field.

Family members, friends, teachers and district administrators gathered to celebrate the graduates, whose high school careers were defined by academic excellence, leadership, athletics, the arts and community service.

Leading the class were valedictorian Maxwell Greenberg and salutatorian Jobelle Angelitud, who delivered commencement addresses reflecting on their experiences and encouraging classmates to pursue their passions while making a positive impact on others.

Greenberg, who will attend Harvard University on a full-tuition U.S. Air Force ROTC scholarship, credited his family, teachers and commitment to service for shaping his success. Throughout high school, he balanced six Advanced Placement courses with leadership roles in Science Olympiad, the World Interest Club and several honor societies while competing in three varsity sports. He also founded Stay Fraud Free, a community initiative that educates older adults about online scams.

Angelitud, who plans to study medicine at Stony Brook University, encouraged graduates to strive for balance while pursuing their goals. A leader in mathematics, music and volunteer service, she co-founded Kindness Kits, a nonprofit organization that has donated more than 500 comfort kits to hospital patients. She also volunteered more than 100 hours at Mount Sinai South Nassau, experiences that reinforced her desire to become a physician.

The outdoor ceremony allowed graduates to celebrate alongside an unrestricted number of family members and friends, with seating available on a first-come, first-served basis. School officials had prepared an indoor contingency plan in the event of inclement weather, which would have divided graduates into two ceremonies and limited guests to two tickets per student.

As caps flew into the air, the Class of 2026 officially closed one chapter and looked ahead to college, careers, military service and new opportunities beyond Oceanside High School.
