Town approves rezoning for Oceanside development project

The Town of Hempstead Board voted to approve the petition from Fieldstone at Oceanside LLC to redevelop the Oceanside Jewish Center into homes on Brower Avenue. The decision paves the way for the development of 59 condominium townhouses on the site of the Oceanside Jewish Center in a move that has sparked significant debate within the community.

The rezoning approval was passed unanimously on March 11, with Supervisor Don Clavin and all council members voting in favor. Oceanside Jewish Center has tried for years to sell due to shrinking congregation.
