On Friday, Oct. 16, US Olympic Gold Medal Winner Amanda Kessel joined the Junior Rangers Girls’ Hockey League at the Long Beach Arena.
The Junior Ranger Girls’ Hockey league, which is led by a female staff, is designed to encourage participation in the sport with a focus on increasing access and visibility while developing important life skills. The program that is built specifically for middle school girls ages 11-14.
Kessel is a key ambassador for the program, which was launched last year. Though the league is currently not holding games because of Covid-19, the girls are still participating in two weekly skill session clinics.
