Even in normal times, the Knights of Columbus St. Agnes Council No. 2548 strives to support the community through numerous programs and fundraisers to help contribute financially to local organizations like the Interfaith Nutrition Network (INN), youth basketball, St. Vincent DePaul’s, Camp Anchor, and many more. But these are not normal times. When members of the men’s Catholic fraternity saw long lines leading up to The Experience Vineyard Church on Merrick Road, they saw another challenge to take on: local families struggling to put food on the table.

After about a month of trying to secure a date for the Covid-19 vaccination, residents and staff at Maple Pointe Assisted Living in Rockville Centre were finally inoculated on Monday. A clinic was set up at the facility by CVS Pharmacy, which administered the vaccine.

Despite restrictions that remain in place as the number of Covid-19 cases continues to rise, students at Molloy College in Rockville Centre are striving for some normalcy in their campus life. On Sunday and Monday, nearly 200 students returned to school and moved into its three residence halls for the spring semester — about 35 more students than lived on campus last fall. To ensure social distancing, they moved in by scheduled appointment, avoiding crowded elevators and hallways as they hauled in suitcases and supplies.

Cases of Covid-19 in Rockville Centre continue to rise, but many people are optimistic as vaccinations for the virus continue at Mercy Medical Center. Last week, the hospital began administering the vaccine to Emergency Medical Services workers while also rolling out the second round of inoculations to staff members.
