Rockville Centre residents will continue to be represented by incumbents in Congress, the State Senate, the Assembly and the Nassau County Legislature. Gov. Kathy Hochul also won another term.

Hochul defeated Republican challenger Bruce Blakeman, the Nassau County executive. She succeeded Andrew Cuomo in 2021 and was elected in 2022, becoming the state’s first female governor. Her campaign highlighted tax cuts, refund checks and a student cellphone ban.

“You win some, you lose some,” Blakeman said. “The election’s over, so we all have to unify and work together and make for a better state of New York.”

Rockville Centre resident Laura Gillen, a Democrat, won a two-year term representing the 4th Congressional District, defeating challenger Jeanine Driscoll.

“In this election, Democrats, Republicans, and independent voters chose common sense over chaos,” Gillen said. “They agreed that we have to focus on solving the problems that working families face and not making their lives harder and more expensive each day. I promise each and every one of you that I will continue to work with anyone and stand up to anyone to make life better and bring down the costs for Nassau County.”

Elected to Congress in 2024, Gillen campaigned on affordability, lower health care and utility costs, restoring the state and local tax deduction, and housing.

Democratic in-cumbent Letitia James defeated Republican challenger Saritha Komatireddy in the race for attorney general. State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli also won re-election.

Democratic incumbent Siela Bynoe won another term in the 6th State Senate District, which includes Rockville Centre, defeating Republican Matt Capp. She cited $45 million in school funding and funding for flood mitigation and road improvements.

Democrat Judy Griffin retained the seat in the 21st Assembly District seat, which includes Rockville Centre, defeating Republican Irene Villacci. Griffin cited the Lieutenant Joseph Banish Mental Health Act and school funding.

Garden City Democrat Joe Scianablo claimed victory over Republican incumbent John Ferretti in the Hempstead town supervisor race. A Marine veteran and a retired police officer, Scianablo campaigned on affordability, transparency and public safety. He pledged spending reviews and town halls.

“The voters decided that enough is enough,” Scianablo said. He also pledged to work across party lines.

Rockville Centre Democrat Scott M. Davis won re-election in the county’s 1st Legislative District, defeating Republican and Conservative challenger Ed Lino. The district includes the village and parts of Hempstead, Baldwin, Roosevelt and South Hempstead. Davis cited funding for water filtration, school improvements and road projects.

The race for Hempstead Town clerk remained too close to call at press time, with Democratic challenger Joylette Williams holding a narrow lead over Republican incumbent Kate Murray.
