The Seaford community came together on May 8 to recognize and celebrate the service of local veterans at the district’s first unified Veterans Appreciation Night. Held at Seaford High School, the evening was filled with patriotic pride, student participation and heartfelt moments of connection.

  1. A united community celebration

Seaford hosted its first districtwide Veterans Appreciation Night on May 8 at Seaford High School, bringing together students, staff, and families from all four schools. The event welcomed 40 veterans representing different military branches and service eras. It marked a shift from last year’s individual school ceremonies to a more unified show of gratitude.

  1. Students played a central role

From leading the Pledge of Allegiance to performing patriotic songs, Seaford students were at the heart of the evening. High schoolers Matthew Kind and Valerie Martin shared their reflections on a 2023 trip to the National WWII Museum with World War II veterans, including 98-year-old Gabe Grenci, who addressed the audience.

  1. Honoring service with heartfelt touches

The event featured a slideshow recognizing each veteran, shirts donated by the Booster Club, and décor from Harbor Elementary School. Principal Nicole Schnabel noted how meaningful it was to see veterans connect with one another, adding that the night reminded students of the sacrifices behind their freedoms.
