Dr. John S. Hooley, 93, formerly of Rockville Centre who was a resident of Naples, Fla., since early 2008, died in his sleep on Jan. 10. He was preceded in death by his parents, the Hon. Francis G. Hooley and Charlotte S. Hooley, of Rockville Centre. He leaves Betty G. Hooley, his wife of 60 years; five children, Deirdra H. McAfee, of Richmond, Va.; John F. Hooley, of Naples, Fla.; Priscilla H. Loved and respected, Vance Kniffin a prominent New York banker, the son of William Henry Kniffin and Gertrude Muriel Kniffin died on June 18 at the age of 89. His wife, Evelyn Carol predeceased him on March 16, 1996. He is survived by his two sons, W. Vance Jr., Charles E., daughter Sandra C. and three grandsons, W. Travis Kniffin and Alexander A. and Cole V. Leonida. more

Darren J. Alberti, a lifelong Cedarhurst resident, died at his home on Feb. 26. He was 37. Darren graduated from Lawrence High School and worked as a printer for the Town of Hempstead. He was also an honorary member of the Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department. more
