Wantagh woman dies after pickup truck crash

A Wantagh woman died Monday evening after being struck by a pickup truck near the intersection of Lufberry Avenue and Briard Street, according to Nassau County police.

Police said a 57-year-old man was driving a 2025 GMC pickup truck west on Lufberry Avenue around 5:22 p.m. when he turned south onto Briard Street and struck a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, identified as Elena Crowley, 53, of Wantagh, was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The driver stayed at the scene, according to police.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
