Nylah Frazier pleads guilty to West Hempstead fatal car crash

A West Hempstead woman pleaded guilty to multiple charges on Feb. 8 stemming from a fatal high-speed 2021car crash that resulted in the death of two teenagers.

Nylah Frazier, 20, took a deal for manslaughter. The plea also included a charge of assault. 

Frazier admitted to driving more than 100 mph on Westminster Road between Oak Street and Fairlawn Avenue in West Hempstead during the October 2021 crash. Kurtis Ceasar, 19, and Amanda Arguinzoni, 17, who were passengers in Frazier’s car, were killed on impact.

Frazier lost control of her BMW X3 after going through a red traffic signal, when she collided with a parked dumpster truck and her car overturned and Ceasar and Arguinzoni were ejected from the vehicle.

“Amanda Arguinzoni and Kurtis Caesar had their entire lives in front of them and lost those lives in an instant due to the selfish and reckless actions of Nylah Frazier,” Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly said in a news release.

Arguinzoni was a West Hempstead High School senior and Caesar was a recent graduate of Cambria Heights Academy in Queens and worked for FedEx at the time of the accident. 

As part of her plea, Frazier will serve 3 to 9 years in prison.

Her sentencing will be on May 22.

After what officials called “a lengthy investigation,” Frazier surrendered to Nassau police in July of 2022.
