Kiwanis, Key Club share breakfast at W.H. High School

    This past April, when the West Hempstead High School Key Club struggled to raise funds to send members to a leadership training conference, the West Hempstead Kiwanis Club came to the rescue. A generous donation enabled the Key Club to send six of its members to the 62nd annual New York District Key Club Leadership Training Conference in upstate New York. In return for this support, the Key Club is planning to lend a hand at the Kiwanis Club’s upcoming Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, May 16.
    In the past, the Kiwanis Club partially subsidized the cost for two students to attend the leadership conference. This year, when Kiwanis members learned that the Key Club was having difficulty raising funds to send additional members to the conference, they offered $1000 towards the tuition and arranged for the students’ transportation.
    The Leadership Training Conference was attended by six West Hempstead High School students: Kelly Ejnes, Frankie LaLuna, Noah Santoro, Brian Kenny, Joseph DiMarco and Alex Corigliano. They joined more than a thousand Key Clubbers from all over New York to celebrate a year of service, learning leadership skills through workshops and seminars, building character with motivational lectures and sharing passion for service with other students.
    As a result of this support, the Key Club offered its support during the Kiwanis Club’s annual Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, May 16.It was held in the West Hempstead High School cafeteria, where there were raffles and door prizes.
