Malverne Board of Education members were honored by students and school staff and administrators during an Oct. 12 board meeting, according to a statement released by the school district.

The principal at each school in the Malverne district gave gifts to the board. Students spoke in honor of board members, and videos of students from Davison Avenue School, Maurice W. Downing School and Howard T. Herber Middle School expressing appreciation to the trustees were also displayed.

The Board of Education was recognized during the New York State School Boards Association’s School Board Recognition Week, which spans Oct. 18 to 22. “This allows school board members to be honored for their volunteer service, commitment and contributions to their schools and community,” the district said in the statement.
