PHOTOS: Malverne celebrates the holidays

Malverne got festive over the weekend as the entire village came aglow with holiday lights. Neighbors came together the celebrate Christmas through the village’s blessing of the crèche, a joyful group of Santa hat-clad carolers, and adorably festive outfits. Walk through the village to see the beautiful winter decorations for yourself!

The lighting of Malverne is a longstanding tradition — which makes sense, considering the village is 100 years old! The Malverne Historical Society held a holiday-themed gala to celebrate the neighborhood’s centennial. Though Malverne’s 100^th birthday was in 2021, Covid-19 restrictions stopped neighbors from fully celebrating the occasion. Now people were finally able to come together to throw Malverne the 100^th birthday party it deserves!

In line with the rest of the holiday traditions of the past weekend, Malverne had its annual “Breakfast with Santa.” Kids were overjoyed to catch a glimpse of Santa himself — let alone take a picture with him and Mrs. Claus! When families weren’t beaming with joy in pictures with the Christmas couple, they spent their time writing and mailing letters to Santa — and eating some delicious breakfast food, of course!
