Whale talk and fluke necklaces
Find out the unique and fascinating ways that whales use songs for communication at the West Hempstead Public Library on Thursday, August 2, from 7 to 7:45 p.m. Touch a whale ear bone and other artifacts, and learn about the impact that high levels of unnatural noise and pollution can have on whales. Swinging tunes for a summer’s eve
The acclaimed 1920s-era revival band Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks as part of its Picnic Pops series, on Wednesday, Aug. 1, at 7 p.m. (gates open at 5 p.m.) Bring a lawn chair or blanket and some friends, and bandleader Giordano and his ensemble will provide the soundtrack for an enjoyable evening. The beat goes on
The tunes will be lively at Heckscher Park, on Sunday, July 29, 12-10:30 p.m., at the 13th edition of the Huntington Folk Festival.
