West Hempstead library dedicates 'Tom's Dream' foundation

The West Hempstead Public Library dedicated the fountain that adorns its front lawn on Saturday, Sept. 11, in memory of the fountain's designer, Thomas Haas.

The Friends of the West Hempstead Library presented Haas' design to the library in 2007 as Tom's Dream — a dream that became reality this summer when construction of the fountain was completed.

Thomas Haas himself will also be honored posthumously by News 12 as a special person who has made a difference for the month of October 2010.

News 12 Anchor Danielle Campbell was expected to feature Haas and the fountain, as well as library Director Regina Mascia and the Haas family, on Sept. 21.
