W.H. teacher finds creative way to connect students to Census

Posted

Kathleen Courtney, an art teacher at West Hempstead’s George Washington Elementary School, found a creative way in which to help students participate in this year’s U.S. Census, assigning them a project that depicted the significance of the Census.
The project asked that each child make an individual link, which would be part of a greater chain that extends throughout the school’s main hallway. The visual assisted the children in recognizing that more than 400 people walk the halls of the building each day.
