I am 25 years old, and until recently, I had never dived into the water. Call me crazy, but the prospect of plunging headfirst into a deep pool of blue had always spurred a sense of anxiety in me. The third annual Swim Across America fundraiser was held at the Lynbrook pool last Saturday, once again coordinated by friends Julie Bergin and Kelly Stapleton. To date, they have raised over $40,000.
“During this year’s kickoff event we had the privilege of meeting with the doctors who are conducting research to find a cure as a direct result of Swim Across America fundraising,” said Bergin. “This has motivated us to keep on making waves to fight cancer!”
Swim Across America In. is dedicated to raising money and awareness for cancer research, prevention and treatment through swimming-related events.
