Remembering Patrick, raising funds at gala

The annual Patrick Owens fundraiser started last weekend with a morning basketball tournament at East Rockaway High School. In the afternoon, there was a children’s Disney party and at 7 p.m., a reception at the Coral House in Baldwin.
The annual event, which was organized orginally by Patrick’s brother, Alan, is in the memory of a brave young boy who died in 1997, at the age of five.
Since its inception in 2004, the PXO Games have raised thousands for the Associated School for Children with Down Syndrome (ACDS), which Patrick attended. The assocation honored the East Rockaway High School Wall of Famers.
