Nicolas Andres Rios, of Hempstead, was recognized for his research at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell during Medical School
Student Research Week.
Over 90 second-year medical students competed for the honor, which required extensive research to be conducted last summer. Rios was one of six students to be awarded a Summer Research Scholarship.
Through a unique partnership with Northwell Health, Zucker School of Medicine students have access to extensive research opportunities at the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research and through collaborations with external partners, including Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory.
The ability to conduct research, demonstrating the mastery of analytical thinking, innovation, and evidence-based reasoning fundamental to the practice of medicine is an essential aspect of the medical education at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.
