A Laurelton man was arrested after allegedly attacking an Uber driver outside Northwell Health Long Island Jewish Valley Stream Hospital early Sunday, Nassau County police said.

According to police, the 51-year-old driver was parked outside the hospital on Franklin Avenue around 2:05 a.m. while waiting for a customer when Jonathan Sharrock, 37, approached and asked to borrow his cell phone because his vehicle had broken down.

After making a call, Sharrock allegedly demanded a ride from the driver, police said. When the driver refused, Sharrock allegedly punched him through the vehicle’s window, injuring his forehead, lip and chin and damaging the vehicle.

Hospital security restrained Sharrock until police arrived, according to authorities. Police said he later bit and scratched officers, made threats and spit at officers and hospital staff.

Sharrock was charged with two counts of assault, assault, criminal mischief, making a terroristic threat and harassment. Arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead, he pleaded not guilty and a temporary order of protection was put in place.

As of press time, Sharrock has no legal representation. His next court date is Aug. 24.
